Some 2018 tatting.

Would you believe I have some tatting to report? I know, I know but it's a reality so here goes......

The year is almost over. I am happy that I finally picked up my shuttles again. I was able to complete 12 motifs that I used for ornaments. The frames were from Michaels. I think they turned out very well. The best part was I got them in the mail in time to arrive at each location before Christmas.

This angel by Renulek  was tatted for a close friend and co-worker who retired this month. I'm still working on my presentation. The wings are not as stiff as I would like.  I used liquid starch, now I'm considering using some glue.

I finally tried tatting an Ice Drop. This is a basic design from a tutorial by Diane .

Month Ten

Month Ten of 2018

Where has the year gone? I haven't done much tatting this year but I have completed a few knitting projects. Why none of the blog post and updates I planned in my head never made it here is mystery.

I completed the Jimmy Beans' 2017 Craftvent Shawl, and the Hipster Shawl by Joji Locatelli.
Neither one is blocked yet, I've been to chicken to try. I have all the supplies and equipment ready for when I pluck up the nerve.

Of course Jimmy Bean is sponsoring a 2018 Craftvent, it starts in less than 60 days. Yeah!!  While last year's was run as a MKAL this year the project has been revealed. It's a lovely shawl by Joji. I 'm looking froward to receiving my kit next month and learning some new techniques as I improve my knitting skills.

I bought 3 balls of Linea Pura in a Olive colorway last year at the Columbus Fiber Fest. I got started the beginning of this month. I am so sad there will be no Columbus FF this year. I hope that it will return next year.

Hello 2018

Hello 2018
I started my Jimmy Bean MKAL on the first of January. Now this was really their Craftvent Calendar from 2017. The MKAL was a mystery that started the first of December, 2017 with the project to be completed by 24th December. I didn't find out about this opportunity until after the 15th. By the time my Craftvent Calendar arrived it was a week before I left for my vacation. Hence the 1st January start. I try to work on this at least once weekly. I've finally made it to color 4. Three more color sections to go and I'll have a shawl.

I am so ready for Spring!! Trying to master, okay, get more comfortable with double points; sooooo  I decided to try my hand at an Easter Egg. The pattern is free on the blog of Arne and Carlos.

I'm using some Lion Brand BonBons for my eggs.
Needles: 3 (3.25mm)

I started a crochet project from Living With Beautiful Crochet. The project is displayed in the book as placemat but I plan to use it on top a piece of furniture. I'm using DMC Cebelia sz 20 with size 9 crochet hook.

Happy making,

Gwen
