Palmetto Tatter Tat Days 2012 have come and gone and I was fortunate to be able to attend. The event is hosted at The Georgia Baptist Convention Center in Toccoa, GA. While there I took 4 classes. Tat Days is always a lot of fun and this year was not different. I saw some friends from previous Tat Days and also made some new friends.Tat Day 2013 have been set for September 5-8. Hope to see you there.
I also signed up for Marilee Rockley's Tatting Class on Craftsy. Two of Marilee's passions are tatting and hand dyeing threads. She has a wonderful blog and Etsy shop. One of the projects from the Craftsy class is "Floret"- tatted earrings. I plan on using this pattern to tat some earrings for Christmas presents. So far I have finished tatting one set and started another. Just 7 more sets to go.

Paper, Shuttel and Thread
We are less from 2 weeks away from the official end of summer here. The schools are back in session and everyone is settling in to their Fall routines. I used some files from SVG Cuts to make some back to school home decorations and gifts for some family members and friends.
I used files from School Days, and Miss Baker's Classroom. Mary and Leo premier a new kit every Thursday/Friday and offer a free file every week. Their customer service is the best.
When I wasn't playing with paper I was working on my tatting. I have 3 of 4 Spinning Wheels coasters done. I will be starting the place mat as soon as I finish the last coaster. I am working this set from Mary Konior's book Tatting with Visual Patterns with DMC Cebelia sz 30. My third coaster has disappeared, hopefully I will find it soon or I will have to make another.
Until next time,
Gwen

Rose and White
Like most of the East Coast I have been trying to weather this year's triple digit temperatures.
I found the pattern for this doily online.

I have decided to work some designs from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior. This is my first attempt at the Spinning Wheel Glass Mat (pg74).

Tatted Edging
What is the thinnest thread you have ever tatted? I wanted a piece of tatting to embellish a small piece of stitching. I started out making a piece of lace out of button and craft thread. When I held it up to the article it was to embellish I decided it was just to big. Button and craft thread too big? What other choice would I have? I finally decided to try the thread that I was using to construct my needlebook. It matched the needlebook perfectly but was oh so small. After my third attempt I was able to complete this piece.
Tatted edge using Gutterman Silk Sewing Thread.
To date this is the smallest thread I have ever tatted, how about you?

The last few weeks I have mostly been playing with paper, ink and glue. I was asked to help with the decorations for a co-worker's baby shower. I made the invitations (forgot to take a picture), used the 3D letters to made the name and CASEd (copy and share everything) the banner and cake favor boxes from Sandee on SVG Cuts FB page.
SVG Cuts Files: 3D Letters
Betty's Bags and Boxes
Letter Pennants
Little Sweet Peas
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Twinkle Twinkle Little Girl
Paper Studio, Pink
Darice, Pure Chocolate
Rosettes made with MS Score Board
This is a bracelet I made last week after a guild class.
And last but not least I made another tatted butterfly. Will have to post the details later, not sure what I have done with the pattern.

Thank You
Lelia is a very busy poster, and recently hosted a giveaway for her 990th post. I was lucky enough to win a copy of The Union Quilters, by Jennifer Chiaverini. Lelia was generous enough to include some fabric, threads and lovely piece of her tatting.
Thank you Lelia for your generosity.

Freeing up a few shuttles
Monday, April 9, 2012
Hello, It's Me Again
This blog has been woefully neglected. Up until this weekend I had not picked up my tatting shuttles, or knitting needles in months. I am not a very accomplished knitter any way so no surprise there, however I was taking part in the 25 Motif Challenge and thoroughly enjoyed that. I need to recommit. Although I have been doing some paper crafts I did not take many pictures or post any. Thanks to Lelia, who left a comment for me this weekend I got out my shuttle and made a small butterfly from 50 Butterflies Migrating, Palmetto Tatters Guild (PTG on FB). I want to make a few more and send them on to Houston for the Butterfly Project. I will post some pictures later when I get some more done.
In the meantime here is a crate of chocolate filled carrots that I made to share with my co-workers over the Easter weekend. The crate and carrots were from 2 kits from SVG Cuts.
